Wellbeing Week 2021

Wellbeing Week
Monday 1st – Friday 5th February 2021
Congratulations to the Student Wellbeing Committee which organised our inaugural Wellbeing Week, overcoming the challenges presented by lockdown. The overarching theme of the week was to ‘Be Grateful’ as the Committee encouraged everyone to express that gratitude either through entering the photo competition (over 120 entries) or by engaging with the process of gratitude journaling.
Caelan Doris (class of 2016) and Gary Ringrose (class of 2013), through video messages, provided advice on the benefits of a gratitude journal and of ‘sharing the load’ by talking to your friends.
Each day had its own focus – Take Notice, Connect, Give, Keep Learning and Be Active. Daily messages in Teams explained how these ways to wellbeing can help us to mind ourselves. During the week, at different times, House Colours were worn to class, a postcard was sent to someone important to us, lessons were given on how to make protein cookies and a St. Brigid’s cross. We finished the week on a high with our whole community challenge, organised by the PE Department – One Million Steps before school on Friday morning. 1.3 million steps were achieved.
Sincere thanks to everyone who helped Max Mannion (5th Year) and his Committee create such a memorable week – Ms. Markey, Mr. Herlihy, Ms. Drew, Mr. McKimm, Ms. Crimmins, Ms. Dillon, Ms. Skehan, our subject departments and my many colleagues who promoted Wellbeing throughout the week.
