Wellbeing

What is Wellbeing?
Wellbeing is a multi-dimensional concept. It encompasses the spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, environmental and physical wellbeing of an individual. The definition used by the NCCA is that;
“Wellbeing is present when an individual realises their abilities, takes care of their physical wellbeing, can cope with the normal stresses of life and has a sense of purpose and belonging to a wider community.”
Blackrock College recognises the vital role that school plays in the shaping of young people’s wellbeing and development.
The Student Wellbeing Committee
The primary role of the Student Wellbeing Committee is to promote and develop positive wellbeing within the College community. The committee is central to the organisation of our themed days and weeks in Blackrock including Anti-bullying Day, Mental Health Awareness Day and Wellbeing Week. These are student led and focus on topics that matter to students.
The committee consists of at least two year representatives and meets regularly to discuss wellbeing in Blackrock College. A chairperson and secretary are elected from the 5/6th year representatives.

Bullying Awareness
Every Child has a right to feel safe and protected.
By letting us know of any bullying concerns you might have, we can begin the process of supporting those who need our help in stopping bullying from continuing. It is always the right thing to let a trusted adult know if bullying happens.
