The Home Economics Course has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable students to take control of their own lives at present and in the future. It is concerned with the way individuals and families manage their resources to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and economics needs of today’s society.
The practical aspect of this subject is now being given some long overdue recognition at Leaving Certificate level. Students will now have the opportunity to obtain 20% of their marks before taking the written exam. This involves researching, preparing, cooking and evaluating five different assignments.
