History of the Development Programme
The Blackrock College & Willow Park Development Programme began in 2004 and arose out of a Campus Masterplan for much-needed new facilities on the campus.
No significant new buildings had been put in place since the early 1970s and, with the major changes in both education and society in the intervening period, the Development Programme set out to improve facilities throughout the campus and to put in place the best possible educational environment for students of Blackrock College and Willow Park.
A fund-raising campaign was launched in 2006 and a huge level of support was offered by Parents, Past Pupils and Past Parents for an initiative which set out, in its first phases, to put in place:
- Phase One (2007): Senior School Building in Blackrock College
- Phase Two (2009): Junior School in Willow Park
- Phase Three (2012): Sports Hall
- Phase Four (2013): Creative Arts & Digital Learning Centre
A range of significant improvements to existing buildings and facilities were also completed.
With all of these new facilities now in place – and adding enormously to the day-to-day life of the College and the educational experience available to our boys – the Development Office is preparing to launch Phase Five of the Development Programme which will include upgrading the outdoor sports and recreational facilities.
