Past V Present Debate 2019

A packed Lecture Hall enjoyed the annual joust between Past and Present.

The Past team of Stephen Ryan (Class of 2018), Joshua Kieran Glennon (2015), Barry O’Donnell (1989) and Rossa Fanning (1992) successfully proposed the motion that ‘Nationalism is a threat to democracy’. The vanquished Present team of Dylan Hutchinson, Shore Oulborode, Max McKenna and Michael Ryan (all 6th Year) made a significant contribution to an enjoyable evening.

I thank the Union represented, by Brian O’Neill (Class of 1981) and Mr Shane Murphy (Class of 1981) for his organisation of the Union team. Mr Sheil, Ms Kelleher and Oisin Ryan (Class of 2018) for their adjudication and Eoin Martin (Class of 2005) for his chairmanship.

Finally, I thank Mr Sheil for his organisation and preparation for the College squad.
