West Side Story – What A Show!

West Side Story
Congratulations To All Performers
19th – 22nd November
We use superlative a lot at Blackrock. We do so with good reason. Even then, there are occasions when they are simply inadequate. Any report or description of ‘West Side Story’ could not possibly do justice to the power of this production.
The movement, timing, dance, singing, acting and music left the audience, each night, breathless.
The cast, orchestra and crew were rewarded for their efforts by the ‘Full House’ sign each night. An affirming and engaged audience is an important part of it. I thank all who supported the project.
I thank those who made it happen; our producer Ms Ryan, Front of House Mr Orrock ably assisted by Ms Reilly and Ms Ní Shuairc, our Choreographer Cathy Tonge, Musical Director Mr Grumley Traynor supported by Ms O’Kane and Mr Cavanagh. What a team!
Our Director Mr Toirleac O’Brien led this ensemble and delivered a spectacular show. He has indicated that this may be his last one and there was, post final curtain, a fitting acknowledgment and celebration of his outstanding contribution to the Arts at Blackrock. His impact on so many students over almost 30 years in the Director’s chair was validated by the many tributes paid both in person and on video by those who had been part of the journey. Well done and thank you Toirleac.
