Week of Reconciliation Services

Week of Reconciliation Services
‘A New Beginning, A Fresh Start’
Monday 9th – Friday 13th September 2019
Last week, 9th – 13th September, each RE class attended the College Chapel where the boys were led in a reflection by their teacher and where they had the opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
‘A New Beginning, A Fresh Start’ was the theme, God calling us in this Sacrament to make a new beginning, a fresh start in our lives, just like the young man in the gospel story of the Prodigal Son which was the Gospel Reading for the Reconciliation Services and also the Gospel Reading at Sunday Mass over the weekend, 14th / 15th September.
A special thanks to all the teachers who helped with the Reconciliation Services, Mr Brennan, Mr Grumley-Traynor, Mr Hurl, Mr Kearney, Mr Madden, Ms Marren, Ms McGlynn, Ms McGuire, Mr Mealiffe, Mr O’Farrell, Mr O’Reilly, Mr Orrock and Mr Ryan. We are also fortunate to have so many Priests both members of the Spiritan Community and members of the Diocesan Clergy. Fr Hugh De Blacam CSSp, Fr Paddy Dundon CSSP, Bishop Bobby Ellison CSSp, Fr Michael Kennedy CSSp, Fr John Kevin CSSp, Fr Pat Mangan [Dublin Diocese], Fr Tom Nash CSSp and Fr Cormac O’Brolcháin CSSp.
We are lucky in this school to have a beautiful Chapel for our celebrations as well as clergy and staff who are willing and able to assist the students at the beginning of the new school year.
Finally, I thank Mr Madden, Head of Pastoral Programme, who organised the week for us. His sense of occasion, understanding and faith is inspirational.
