Table Tennis – All Ireland Championships, May 2022

All Ireland Championships
May 2022
The Schools season came to a close with the All Ireland Championships. Despite losing out to Castleknock by two points in the race for the Leinster title, our Seniors defeated Castleknock 6-3 in the All-Ireland playoff. Junior A had also lost out to Castleknock in the Leinster League, losing 0-6, but in the All-Ireland playoff came just a few points away from also turning the tables, losing out 3-6. At the All-Ireland finals, despite a 5-1 victory over Munster Champions Kinsale, Senior A ran into old rivals Bangor GS, losing out in the deciding doubles match to go down 4-5. This was nonetheless our 11th consecutive All Ireland Finals appearance. I congratulate our team of Daniel Patterson (2nd Year), Diarmuid Byrne (4th Year), Ben Kieran Glennon and Maitiu Heckmann (5th Year), Matthew Lorusso, Sean Patterson and Adam Tunney (6th Year).
At representative level, Sean Patterson and Conor Sheehan (both 2nd Year) were selected for Leinster U15 at the Junior Interprovincial Championships, while Ben Kieran Glennon (5th Year) and Adam Tunney (6th Year) were selected for Leinster U21 at the Senior Interprovincial Championships.
We thank Mr Butler for his organisation of Table Tennis and his preparation of the boys. It is great to be back in action after a frustrating period for all involved.
