Soccer – Dublin Metropolitan League, November 2018

Congratulations to captain Peter Quinlan (6th Year) and his squad in a 4-1 victory over Belvedere College in the opening game of the metropolitan league. After the disappointment of losing on penalties in the cup last week, this win give the team a huge chance of qualifying for a home semi-final.

After a seamless first half Camilo Fernandez (6th Year) scored two goals within the first 6 minutes of the second half as Ronan Cowhey (5th Year) and Scott Cullinane (6th Year) dominated midfield. Belvedere hit back to make the game 2-1 in the 55th minute however we held our composure and another Camilo Fernandez goal in the 68th minute was quickly followed up by his fourth goal to ensure victory.

I thank our coaches Mr Evan O’Brien, Ms Mullen and Jack Reilly (Class of 2017) for their preparation of the side.

Next up is St. Benildus in our first home game of the year.
