SciFest Awards 2024
On Tuesday 27th February, we had our 11th SciFest@School Stem fair.
In recognition of this, Blackrock College was awarded a SciFest STEM Gold Award. This consisted of a framed certificate and an official SciFest STEM School Award digital badge.
The digital badge is now on the school website. There are roughly 6 schools in Ireland who have achieved this award.
Ninety-nine projects were judged by Hugo Rowsome (Scifest), Rory Geoghegan, Brian Smyth, Marie Kelly and Siobhan Sweeney. It was incredible to see the senior science corridor decorated with wonderful project ideas which gave such insight into the scientific minds of our Second Year students. The judges commented and commended the boys on their enthusiasm, communication skills and confidence, while presenting their projects. They also mentioned that the boys were very good at reflecting on their projects and how they could be improved upon, which is a huge part of a scientific investigation.
The winners will be announced at check in on Thursday 29th February.
