Rugby Junior Cup Final

An extraordinary game!
We salute Gus McCarthy (3rd Year) and his squad on a superb performance which sadly, just, came up short.
There was so much to admire in Blue and White yet St. Michaels’, to their credit, kept going to the end and struck gold with the last play of the game.
It was an excellent final – understandably, our boys, their mentors and families are very disappointed. However, there will be better times and when we look back on this campaign, it will always be with great pride and deep admiration for their efforts.
I thank our coaches Mr Daly, Mr Creighton, Mr Fairley, Mr Donnelly, Mr Toomey and Mr Murray for their phenomenal commitment; our medical team of Ms Fitzgerald and Dr. Brophy for their care for the boys; our Cheerleaders led by Ross O’Reilly (6th Year) who were there throughout the campaign but particularly on this day both in Donnybrook and the Jubliee Hall; our Games Administrator, Deans, Deputies, grounds, household and maintenance staff who always delivery; my colleagues in attendance for their encouragement. Finally, I thank the parents and families of not just the 23 but of the extended squad all of whom have been incredibly supportive. A season ends; undoubted disappointment for Gus and his squad but let it be known that we are very proud of them.
