Rugby – JCT Final 2021 – Blackrock v Newbridge College

Commiserations to Jack Angulo (TYr) and his squad on this narrow loss in a great final. Two excellent sides – and we congratulate Newbridge on their victory – played out a very competitive match. As always in such encounters, it could have gone either way but, for us, it was not to be.

Let us not judge the 2021 JCT on one result. Jack and his squad have played with skill, and great heart throughout the campaign and we are very proud of them. They gave their all.

There was a tremendous turnout from the school and we thank the cheerleaders and boys in the stand for the way they supported the team. There are many to thank and the squad did so on their return to the refectory. We appreciate the dedicated expertise of our coaches Mr Daly, Mr Kelly, Mr Barry, Mr Toomey, Mr Moore, Mr Lester, John McKee and Louis O’Reilly (class of 2018), the magnificent support of our medical team of Ms Aisling Carr and Dr Noreen Curran, the behind the scenes work of our Games Administrator Mr Evan O’Brien, our catering and grounds staff, and the encouragement and essential co-operation of the parents led by Mr and Mrs Angulo.
