Rugby – 2nd Year Inter-House 10’s

2nd Year Rugby Inter-House 10’s
Friday, 13th September 2019
There was a great turnout for last Saturday’s Inter-House 10’s (13th September). The ‘A’ competition went to Shanahan House (captain, Ernie O’Brien) who beat De Valera (captain, Lochlainn Maher) in the final. The two semi-finals had been very close affairs with McQuaid (captain, Charlie Molony) and Ebenrecht (captain, Patrick Moore) losing out.
In the 5th / 6th place match Duff (captain, Macdara Cosgrove) beat Leman (captain, Alex Kenny).
The ‘B’ 7 – a – side league was equally competitive. De Valera (captain, Harry Lowes) beat Ebenrecht (captain, Harry Brady) by a try in the final having beaten Shanahan (captain, Daire Burke) in the semi-final. Ebenrecht had beaten Leman (captain, Don Mulcair) in the other semi-final.
Duff (captain, Dylan Drumm) and McQuaid (captain, Alex Flavin) gave their all in the group stages but, alas, didn’t qualify for the semi-finals.
It was a great morning with plenty of skill, endeavour and courage on display. It was played in idyllic weather conditions.
I thank Mr Maher, Mr Henderson, Mr Somerville, Jack Loscher, Tim D’Arcy, Matthew Barry, Matthew Carroll, Richie Mouatt, Ms Harlowe and Mr Evan O’Brien for making it happen, on and off the field.
I also thank our 5th year House Captains Michael Nealon (De Valera), Matthew Doyle (Duff), Aidan Kennedy and Sam Bruton (both Ebenrecht), Alex Cronnelly (McQuaid), Conor Bleakley and Charlie Mullin (both Shanahan) for their leadership of and support for their 2nd Year counterparts.
