Rowing – Castleconnell Regatta, May 2023

On the 20th of May, Blackrock College attended Castleconnell Regatta in Limerick beside O’Brien’s Bridge, where the weather remained sunny and pleasantly warm at 20 degrees throughout the day. Castleconnell Regatta, predominantly a junior event, featured unique races for the younger rowers over a 500m course.

Notably, our rowers achieved two wins in the J18 1x category, with Harry Pierce (5th Year) emerging victorious in his final, and James Hodgins (4th Year) securing his first win of the year in a thrilling tie. The J15 8x+ crew, consisting of our second-year rowers, also had an impressive race, finishing in 3rd place in their first-ever eight race. Our rowers thoroughly enjoyed this exciting and short-distance regatta, and all the boys should take pride in their accomplishments. Our next event is Galway Regatta on the 3rd of June.
