Reconciliation Services 2020

Reconciliation Services
Monday 14th – Friday 18th September 2020
What a joy that the classrooms are buzzing with life again in the College. Blackrock is all about community – coming together in many ways, to work, to reach, to learn, to play, to pray and to forgive.
During this past week, the third week of the new school year, each class, together with their Religion Teacher, have had the opportunity to avail of a Service of Reconciliation with the theme… “A new beginning”.
This year’s services were different due to Covid but were all the more intimate and more meaningful as we celebrated the Sacrament in smaller groups. Many good things and new initiatives are happening within the College due to this pandemic under the guidance of the Holy Spirit – ‘Veni Sancte Spiritus’.
We thank our Spiritan Community for their support and encouragement to the teachers and for their service to the boys in the facilitation of the sacrament.
Special thanks to Joseph Carroll, Ben Kieran-Glennon and Frazer McGinn (all TY) for their co-ordination of each year group and the management of over 50 individual ceremonies.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is not just confined to the two formal reconciliation weeks during the school year. We are most fortunate that we, students and staff, can avail of the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Fr Paddy Dundon CSSp either before of after Morning Mass at 8.15am in our College Chapel each day of the school term.
Finally, we thank all the boys for their reverence and respect in the College Chapel during the services which mark “a new beginning” for us all.
We thank our R.E. Teachers and Deans for their respective roles in the organisation of the liturgies. Most of all we thank Flor Madden for making it happen.
