Noel Turley Memorial Trophy 2018

Noel Turley Memorial Trophy

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 30 | ST MICHAEL’S COLLEGE 27 |
The inaugural contest and an absolute cracker! We just shaded a very sporting high octane encounter which was a fitting tribute to Noel who gave so much to education and to rugby in both colleges over a career that stretched from 1963 to 2013; 1963-1978 Teacher in ‘Rock; 1978-2001 Teacher/Deputy Principal in St. Michael’s; 2006-2013 5th Year Counsellor in ‘Rock
This was a game between two very well coached sides and I suspect that they may have to face each other again after Christmas. It was a great Spiritan occasion and we thank Noel’s widow, Catherine, for her initiative which is a further reminder of how much we have in common.
I thank St. Michael’s Principal Mr Kelleher and Director of rugby Andy Skehan for their welcome and hospitality. I thank Sean O’Brien and his squad, Mr Vanstone and his team of coaches for representing us so well.
