Mental Health Awareness Day
We had an excellent Mental Health Awareness Day on Monday, 13th October 2014.
Each Year group had a Guest Speaker:
Mr Fionbar Walsh, father of the late Donal, addressed 5th and 6th Year.
Mr Donal Scanlan, St John of God Hospital, spoke to 2nd and 3rd Year
A representative of Teenline made a presentation to Transition Year.
The electronic screens and posters delivered a strong message encouraging the boys to start the conversation if they feel under stress or anxious.
“IF YOU’RE NOT OKAY, IT IS OKAY AND MORE THAN OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP”.
A Teen Health Business Card was given to each student with advice on Mental Health and Support Numbers.
Teen-Between, Pieta House, ISPCC, St John of God and Foroige had stands in the Lecture Hall at lunchtime, providing the boys and staff with information on support services.
It was an excellent day, very well received.
I thank Ms McGee for her organisation of the event.
