Maths Week – Numeracy Day 2020

Maths Week – Numeracy Day
Monday 12th – Friday 16th October 2020
Despite the pervasive, exponential threat of COVID 19 Maths Week 2020 in Blackrock managed to be a tremendous series of events, maybe the best ever.
As usual a sequence of slides on the monitors detailed the rich history of maths and its many beautiful equations with contributions ranging from our own brilliant Richard Rowan Hamilton to those two other immortals, Gauss and Schrodinger.
The Maths Quiz ran all week with some phenomenal questions and contributions. These highly differentiating questions were distributed in each class thus integrating Maths Week with the classroom s in a big and meaningful way. We would like to thank Andrea Dillon for her expert assistance in help in setting up the quiz so seamlessly.
The winners were:
2nd Year: Ryan Nolan
3rd Year: Conor Sheridan
4th Year: Thomas Brigg
5th Year: Rory Luff
6th Year: Naoise Cautley
