Mass of Remembrance 2018

Mass of Remembrance
Wednesday, 28th November 2018
“Look for me in the people you have known and loved; love does not die”.
Fr. Marc Whelan was chief celebrant at our annual Mass of Remembrance, Wednesday 28th November. In a moving liturgy, we gathered in community to comfort those who mourn and to give thanks for the gift of life.
President of the Union John Rogan (Class of 1989) and his wife Nicki, represented the extended Blackrock family and laid a wreath on the altar in memory of our past-students who have passed away in the past year. Specific reference was made to the 54 past-students who died in World War I. The last post was sounded by Callum Byrne followed by a minute’s silence.
I thank Fr. Nash, Fr. Whelan and the concelebrating community, Mr Madden, Mr Grumley-Traynor, Mr O’Shea, Mr Orrock, Mr Myles Ryan, Mr Brennan, Ms Crimmins, Ms McGlynn, Ministers of the Eucharist Diarmuid Foley, Cianán Quinn, Ronan McGoldrick and Liam Fitter; Servers Ross O’Reilly, Conor O’Neill, Camilo Fernándes and Ben White (all 6th Year). Our choir Callum Byrne (5th Year), Charlie Byrne, Cian Hasson, Barry O’Sullivan (all Class of 2018), Bill Madigan and Chris Wong (both Class of 2017) for their care, empathy and compassion.
“They whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before, they are now wherever we are”.
