Literacy Day, Sept 2021
Be A Discerning Reader
In this digital age and particularly with the introduction of the surface go device in 2nd, 4th and 5th years, this was our annual reminder of the importance, and joy, of reading books and also of quality writing.
The events included a talk to the 2nd years by author and storyteller Dave Rudden, a ‘Recommend a Book Link’ and reading pledge, a talk on screen writing for the 5th years as well as a Dungeons and Dragons competition in which the challenge was to rid the world of misinformation and save blackrock college.
In the senior English classes, the boys were advised how to become a discerning reader.
We thank Ms Kelleher, Ms Brunswick, Ms Dillon and the CADLC student committee for their organisation of an excellent programme.
