Senior Debating
Leinster Schools’ Debating Competition 2020
Congratulations to Ben Kieran-Glennon, Frazer McGinn, Jamie-Starr Bourke (all Transition Year), James Carroll, George Francis, Michael White (all Fifth Year), Michael Lucey and Matthew Keeley (both Sixth Year), who took part in the first round of the 38th Leinster Schools’ Debating Competition, in a debate titled ‘This House Would Ban Targeted Advertising for Under 18 Social Media Users.’
Our speakers debated in pairs live online, within sub-groups, as part of this year’s first qualifying round of the competition, held via Zoom last week. Their debates served as resounding proof of the talent.
We congratulate Michael White and James Carroll, George Francis and Ben Kieran-Glennon, who were awarded first place in their respective groups and Matthew Keeley & Michael Lucey, who were placed second in theirs. They shall now progress to the next qualifying round.
We thank Ms Ni Shuairc and Mr Orrock for their preparation of the boys.
