Leinster Cross Country Competition Final
Wednesday, 16th January 2022
The Cross Country team lined up for the Leinster Cross Country Final in Santry Demesne on 16th February. In what was a tough competition with harsh conditions on the day, our teams managed to put in brave performances in each of their races. Up first were the Juniors 3km in a field of over 100 athletes. Callum Downes was first home to score for a team that would eventually finish 8th in the overall team standing. He was followed by Tom Hayden, Jamie Browne Lynch, Adam Kennedy, Hugh Barry, and Lorcan Lawless. Our sole intermediate runner Charlie White ran well in the 4.5km Intermediate field and despite being one of the younger runners still managed to finish 35th.
The final race of the day was the Senior boys race which get shortened from 6km to 4.5km due to the weather. First home to score for the team in the competition was Jack McGlone in 17th place. The rest of the team composed of Eoin Dunne, Oscar Lubliner, Liam Norton, James, Carroll, Ryan Downes, and Dan Barry crossed the finish line to produce a performance that got them 7th team overall.
