TRANSITION YEAR DAYBOYS 2-10 | 6TH YEAR DAYBOYS 3-6 |
Congratulations to captain Mark Dempsey and the Transition Year team on winning the Karl Ashe Gaelic Football tournament played on the front lawn last Friday, 17th September in a very sporting and well contested game.
The 6th Years got off to a great start with Sean Purcell weaving in and out of the Transition Year’s defence to score a wonderful goal. Paddy Corbett added another to ensure the 6th Years half-time lead, 2-3 / 0-6.
After numerous missed chances, the Transition Year’s finally got the goals they needed in the second half with Sam Kilroy and Mark Dempsey scoring goals in quick succession. This put them 5 ahead with four minutes to play. The 6th Years fought back, and captain Jack Davy scored a goal followed by a point from Rory O’Shea. However, it was too little too late.
We would like to thank Mr. O’Brien for organising the tournament and Deans Mr. Ryan, Mr O’Neill and Mr Grant for preparing the teams.
