Junior Gold Medal Debate

Junior Gold Medal Debate 2018
Congratulation to all who participated in the 2nd and 3rd year Gold Medal Debate on Wednesday, 16th May. Well prepared and eloquently delivered speeches ensured an engaging debate of a very high standard enjoyed by all in attendance.
The motion; “This house believes it is legitimate for governments to spy on their citizens” was fiercely debated. Michael White (2nd Year) and Matthew Keely (3rd Year) were deemed best speakers on the day and were presented with their Gold Medals on Prize Day.
The debate was ably chaired by former Junior Debater and now 6th Year Gold Medal Debate winner Stephen Ryan who encouraged all to do debating for the skills and confidence it nurtures.
Many thanks to Mr Sheil, Ms Pierce and Oisin Ryan (6th Year) for their adjudication of the debate and to 5th Year debaters Michael Ryan and Drummond McGinn for their assistance on the day. I thank Ms Dobbyn for her organisation of Junior Debating.
