Junior Debating – The National MACE 2019

Junior Debating
The National MACE
April 2019
Congratulations to James Carroll, Ben Kieran-Glennon (both 2nd Year) and Daniel Keeley (3rd Year) who represented us in the The National MACE, hosted by Colaiste na hlnse, Berrystown, Co. Meath.
There were 4 challenging debates:
Debates | |
---|---|
Motion 1: | This House would allow their parents to raise their children in prison. |
Motion 2: | This House would ban religious institutions from publicly commenting on referenda or state elections. |
Motion 3: | This House would not trade with countries that have anti LGBTQI+ laws. |
Motion 4: | This House would ban music with sexist lyrics. |
Final debate:
This House would rescind Ireland’s invitation to Donald Trump.
The Final was chaired by Mairead McGuinness, 1st Vice President of The European Parliament.
All three boys spoke extremely confidently, with content and conviction, and very much deserved to have been chosen to represent themselves and compete within the top 100 Junior Debaters in the country.
I thank Ms Pierce for her preparation of the boys and phenomenal commitment to Debating (12 hours on Saturday!).
