Junior Debating in Cambridge

Ben Kieran-Glennon and Alec Linklater (both 2nd Year) represented Ireland at the ICYD Debating Competition in Cambridge.
There were 4 qualifying rounds, a Semi-Final and a Final:

Motion 1: (Opening Opposition) | This House Would ban developed countries from hiring doctors from developing countries. |
Motion 2: (Closing Government) | This House Supports the School Strike for Climate. |
Motion 3: (Closing Opposition) | This House Would pay reparations for the Atlantic slave trade. |
Motion 4: (Opening Government) | In countries where compulsory military service for men exists, This House Believes that feminists should advocate for the conscription of women. |
Semi-Final: | This House would teach children that wealth is a source of shame. |
Final: | This House would prefer a world without religious or spiritual beliefs. |
This was a global event composed of 48 teams. There were 4 teams from Ireland: Blackrock College, Colaiste na hInse, Scoil Mhuire and Colaiste Iognaid.
