Irish Debating – Gael Linn Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh

Commiserations to our Junior and Senior Irish Debating teams, who were knocked out during the third round of the Gael Linn Comórtas Díospóireachta an Phiarsaigh tournament last Wednesday, 5th February.

Our Junior Team of Gavin Bowen-O’Connor, Conor Hughes and Ben Kieran-Glennon (all 3rd Year) proposed the motion that “Irish Society is Damaged by Materialism”.

Our Senior Team of John Huggard, Luke O’Brien and Jack Tiernan (all 6th Year) opposed the motion that “Farmers have a Reason to Complain” and missed out on going through to the next round by just a couple of points.

Heartiest praise to the boys on both teams, who worked very hard throughout the year to make it this far in the competition. Their commitment to and enthusiasm for the Irish language is commendable.

We thank Ms Ni Shuairc and Mr Orrock for their tremendous work in preparing the teams.
