6th Year
6th Year led the way in an excellent morning of inter-House rugby last Saturday. There was a fantastic turn out from our final year students and many believed it was the finest 6th year competition since its inauguration in 2007/08. The final was top class with Shanahan pipping DeValera 29-24 after 8 minutes of extra-time. I congratulate both captains – Luke Mion of Shanahan and Liam Fitter of DeValera – on an outstanding game. I thank our referee Jack Gardiner and Alexander MacDonald.
5th Year
After a tight (24-19) semi-final win against Ebenrecht, De Valera won the 5th year competition with a last minute intercept try to beat Leman by one score. Leman comfortably beat Shanahan 42-7 in the semi-final stage. The wooden spoon match was a very open contest, McQuaid got the better of Duff 32-24. Many thanks to referees Richie Mouatt and Stephen Madigan.
4th Year
The 4th year competition was won by Leman beating Ebenrecht in the final. Both sides overcame tough opposition in the semi-finals by beating Shanahan and DeValera respectively. McQuaid over came Duff in the wooden spoon contest. Many thanks to referees Matthew Carroll and Josh Dixon
3rd Year A Team
The 3rd year A competition was won by Leman. Leman overcame Duff 36-0 in the semi-final. Ebenrecht were runners up in the competition after overcoming McQuaid 26-7 in the semi-final. The final was an excellent contest. A player of the tournament performance from Cian Ryan saw Leman winning 19-12.
3rd Year B Team
The B competition was also won by Leman who over came Duff in the final. Leman over came McQuaid in the semi-final whilst Duff beat DeValera to reach the final.
Many thanks to referees Rory Madigan, Louis O’Reilly, Harry Donnelly and Tom Sheehan.
I thank our Gamesmaster, the Deans’ and House Captains’ on a great start to the year.
