Graduation Mass – Class of 2022
Graduation Mass
A Celebration of the Class 2022
Sunday, 22nd May 2022
At Sunday’s Graduation Mass, Chief Celebrant Fr. Cormac O’Brolchain gave yet another superb homily in which he reminded the boys that they were loved by many and far more valuable than any points they may achieve in the Leaving Cert.
In the Gospel procession the Banners proclaimed the gifts of courage, reverence, understanding, wisdom, wonder, knowledge and sound judgement – all that we wish for our boys, for each other. We add to that, virtues of love, self-control, patience, peace, kindness, faithfulness, goodness and generosity. The Prayers Of The Faithful were offered in 13 different languages, representing the diversity and depth in the Class of 2022.
It was a deeply moving Liturgy, appreciated by the boys and their parents. The Cantors, Choristers, Musicians, Readers and Ministers of the Eucharist were outstanding. For this and much more I thank most sincerely Mr Madden, Mr Tom Ryan, Mr Grumley-Traynor, Mr Cavanagh, Mr O’Sullivan, Ms Irene Dunne, Ms Crimmins, Mr O’Reilly, Ms Drew, Mr Herlihy, Ms Markey and Ms Nolan, members of the R.E. and Pastoral Teams, Fintan O’Connor, Marco Himpers, Tommy Moore and the Maintenance and Household Staff.
The presence of Union President, Robert Brophy (Class of 1982) who had a dual mandate as father of James, and his wife Sarah, the Chairman of the Board Of Management, Mr Damien Kennedy and his wife Cora and many of our teaching colleagues added significantly to the occasion.
We also thank the 5th Year Parents’ Committee for hosting a reception in the Refectory and, of course, Albert and our Catering Staff.
The Graduation Lunch, held at the Pavilion, Leopardstown afterwards was organised by the 6th Year Parents’ Committee where 600 continued the celebrations. A fantastic and memorable day – well done to the class of 2022 and their parents.
