Gaelic Footbal – Dublin U16’s Championship Final

GAELIC FOOTBALL
Dublin U 16’s Championship Final
Not to be! The game started brightly with Michael Nealon (4th Year) and Patrick Van Zuydam (3rd Year) scoring two quick goals in succession. However, as the first half continued, Cois Life grew in strength, dominating possession from the kick outs and narrowed the deficit to the tightest of margins. This Blackrock team displayed their strength of character once again just before half time when a counter-attack resulted in a goal by Darragh Dempsey (4th Year) which meant a half-time score line of 3-5 to 1-7.
The second half was end to end with Cois Life scoring 3 points in a row followed by 2, from Mark Kelly (4th Year) and Michael Nealon, and then a goal by Mark Murphy (4th Year). Unfortunately, we could not maintain this lead and 2 late goals left us beaten but unbowed, 4-12 to 4-10.
It is a long time since Blackrock College team has competed in a final for a Dublin Gaelic Football championship. Congratulations to all concerned.
I would like to thank captain Robert Kenny (4th Year) and his squad and coach Mr Grant for the organisation throughout the year.
