St Andrew’s International
Model United Nations Conference
Friday 1st – Sun 3rd April 2022
On the 1st-3rd of April, the Blackrock college MUN society took part in the St Andrew’s International MUN conference (SAIMUN), debating against 45 different delegations and over 300 delegates. The delegations represented by Blackrock were France and Saudi Arabia.
France: Keith Lyons, Frazer McGinn, Gavin Bowen-O’Connor, Jamie Starr Bourke (all 5th year) and Aran O’Flaherty (4th Year)
Saudi Arabia: Christopher Nolan (5th Year), Sebastian MacManus and Mark Ahern (both 2nd Year)
After three days of lobbying, debating, and voting the Blackrock delegation were extremely successful passing 4 out of their 5 resolutions in committee and getting to debate the French Security Council resolution in General Assembly.
The French delegation were awarded the OUSTANDING DELEGATION (awarded for the best overall team performance) for the entire conference as well as 4 individual committee awards. These awards are as follows:
- Ecology and Environment – Frazer McGinn (5th Year) – Distinguished Delegate
- Security Council – Aran O’Flaherty (4th Year) – Distinguished Delegate

We would like to thank Ms Fitzsimons for all her help and organisation for SAIMUN 2022 and MUN throughout the year.
