Leinster Schools Cricket Cup Semi-Final
May 2019
After a win in the 1/4 final vs Sandford Park the senior cricket team played Kings Hospital in the semi-final of the Leinster schools cricket cup. Batting first Kings Hospital made 88 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with Cillian McDonnell and Gavin Hoey (both 5th Year) taking 5 wickets between them. Conor Austin (6th Year) only gave away 5 runs in his 4 overs.
In the run chase Blackrock started strongly with David Cosgrave (5th Year) and Phillipe Le Roux (2nd Year) putting on 40 runs for the opening wicket. However, we lost 4 wickets in quick succession before Gavin Hoey and Conor Austin combined to get Blackrock the win, with Hoey top scoring with 40 runs.
We play CUS in the final at Merrion Cricket Club today, Wednesday 22nd May, a final Blackrock has not been in since 1967. We wish them and Mr Pickering well.
