Cricket – Leinster Schools Senior Semi-Final 2022

Leinster Schools Senior Cup
Semi-Final
May 2022
Congratulations to Captain Phillipe Le Roux (5th Year) and his senior squad on reaching the final against play CUS to be played tomorrow 25th May in Merrion Cricket Club.
The semi-final victory over a competitive Temple Carrig side at Greystones Cricket Club, is in the idyllic Druids Glen ground in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, was achieved in difficult weather conditions. The side remained focused throughout even with the threat of the game being stopped because of persistent rain showers. We won the toss and opted to bowl, which proved to be the smart choice as third year Finlay Threadgold-Ball took the first wicket with a beautifully bowled yorker in only the fifth ball of the innings. It took a while for the next Temple Carrigs’ partnership to be broken, but it was by William Connellan (5th Year) who ended the game with five wickets, including a remarkable hattrick to end the session. Tom Johnson (5th Year) dismissed the third batsman and Macdara Cosgrave (TY) dispatched three wickets. The performance was led by Adam Wright (5th Year), wicketkeeper Richard Ainsworth (6th Year), and captain Philippe Le Roux (5th Year) who all made terrific catches all of which left Temple Carrig with 66 runs all out.
We accomplished the goal of 67 runs in the first ball of the ninth over as Paddy Morris (6th Year), Macdara Cosgrave with superb shot selection and running strategy, scored freely.
We thank our coaches Mr Vanstone and Mr Halpin for their preparation of the squad.
