Catholic Schools Week Review 2022

Catholic Schools

Living Life to the Full
Sunday, 23rd January – Sunday, 30th January 2022
Catholic Schools week took place between the 23rd and 30th of January. This year’s theme was, “Catholic Schools: Living Life to the Full”.
As a Catholic school we are blessed to be able to have mass each morning @ 8.15. This is an opportunity for students, staff and parents to begin the day with prayer. Our school mass is also open to a wider congregation via the school website.
Prayer was a central focus of Catholic Schools Week. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament took place on Friday morning. This time for quiet prayer was very well attended by staff and students and was a highlight of the week.
The week also saw the introduction of a new Blackrock Camino where students were brought on a prayer/reflection walk around the college grounds. Stopping off at various points along the route, students were encouraged to pray and think about, their future, their families, those less fortunate and the environment.
A display of Inspirational Catholics, as chosen by our students, was held in the CADLC. Using the theme “Living Life to the Full”, the boys selected inspirational role models, from a variety of backgrounds such as science, sport, politics, entertainment, who are also proud of their Catholic faith.
The week had a fun element with an on-line religion quiz for all classes and was rounded off with a most meaningful family mass for 5th years. The wonderful gifts of music, singing, reading and reverence, on display by our 5th years, in front of their parents, created a memorable celebration of the Eucharist and a fitting conclusion to the week.
We thank Mr Madden and in particular, Mr O’Reilly and our R.E. Department for their preparation of the week.
