Camino de Santiago 2019

Camino 2019
After a hike of 110kms, 25 Transition Year students alongside Mr O’Neill, Ms Nolan, Mr O’Reilly and Fr Marc Whelan arrived in Santiago De Compostella on Saturday last, May 11th. The physical challenge was significant – the rain in Spain falls mainly on the Camino – but was completed in good humour with enthusiasm, care and respect that represents the very best of what the College is about.
Fr Marc Whelan (Class of 1980) made the spiritual aspect of the trip accessible to the boys. The group reflection after dinner each evening was a highlight as the boys reflected on themselves, their relationships with other and what they are grateful for in their lives. It was these moment that gave witness to the true impact of the Camino for the boys.
I congratulate: Tony Rowe, Zach Boyle, Niall Brophy, Freddie Noonan, Eoin O’Sullivan, Naoise Cautley, Conor Slattery, Robbie Gallagher, Mark Murphy, Colm Kelly, Rory McGuire, Robert Byrne, Robbie Nolan, Charlie Mullin, Matthew Barry, Lorcan Campbell, Colm Ó hAonghusa, Conor Crumlish, Pablo Villarroya, Matthew Doyle, Ivan Mooney, Alex Kirrane, Mark O’Connor, Alex O’Keefe and Hugh MacNeill on the completion of the Camino De Santiago. They were, by all accounts, outstanding ambassadors for the College.
I thank Mr O’Neill, Ms Nolan, Mr O’Reilly, and Fr Marc for making it possible.
