Boarders’ Family Mass
DATE: Sunday 11th September 2016.
Fr. Paddy Dundon CSSP, was Chief Celebrant at the Boarders’ Family Mass last Sunday, 11th September.
In his homily, Fr. Dundon wished the 87 Boarders well for the year and advised them that, in life, things don’t always go your way and that it is particularly important that all members of the Castle Community – Staff and Students – support one another. He thanked them for the courtesy and respect he has witnessed since their return and that this augured well for the year ahead. Our College motto, ‘Fides et Robur’, could be adapted to ‘Fides est Robur’ meaning (our) faith is (our) strength “God is with you always”.
President of the Union, Mr Brian O’Neill (class of 1981), and his wife Evelyn, represented the strong bond between Blackrock past and present. I thank them both, our celebrants, my colleagues, Mr. Grumley-Traynor, Mr. MacDermott, Mr T O’Brien, Mr Somerville, Mr Daly, Mr Kilcoyne, Mr Brennan, Mr Rogan, Ms Fitzgerald and her husband Des, and of course the Boarders and their families all of whom contributed to the prayerful liturgy.
