Basketball Ireland
East Leinster League – U19

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 38 | ST BENILDUS COLLEGE 32 |
This was the first game of the season for the U19 Basketball team. It is a young squad, with it being entirely made up of 4th and 5th years yesterday, however a win away from home is a very promising start.
Apart from considering the very first basket, ‘Rock were ahead throughout, on average by 10 or 11 points. Two three points kept Benildus in touch and at one stage in the 4th quarter ‘Rock led just by 4. However, ‘Rock managed the game well to run out six-point winners.
Nico Coll (5th Year – Captain) and his young squad will know there is much scope for improvement – to be expected with a young group. However, to hold their nerve and win a game of this nature shows there is much potential within the squad going forward. Stand out performers were Zac Potter (5th Year) and Jimmy Gilligan (4th Year) who scored 14 and 13 points respectively.
I thank Coaches Rob Somers (Class of 2017) and Barry O’Sullivan (Class of 2018) and Mr O’Neill for their preparation of the team.
