Anti-Bullying Day – September 2020
Anti-Bullying Day
Thursday, 1st October 2020
The College annual Anti-Bullying day is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment posted in every classroom and hall, that “Every boy in Blackrock is entitled to an education free from fear and intimidation”. Bullying is not tolerated in Blackrock College”.
In previous years, external speakers delivered talks across the year groups but with COVID restrictions this was not possible. The Student Wellbeing Committee (SWB) developed a presentation for all years which was delivered to the Maths, English an SPHE classes throughout the day. Awareness was raised across the College with new student-designed posters. The student body were invited to give their opinion on statements about bullying by interacting with QR codes in their Rec. areas.
The Wellbeing Anonymous Tool was re-launched with easier accessibility. Just a single click accesses each year group in Teams.
The Student Wellbeing Committee launched the ‘Be Caring’ Campaign, a theme which will be evident across the feature days/weeks throughout the year.
Thanks to Chairman Shane Redahan and Andrew Ryan (both 6th Year) and the SWB Committees for they have sparked discussion and Debate across the College.
We thank my colleagues on the committee Ms Drew, Ms Crimmins, Mr McKimm and Ms Markey.
If you are struggling let someone know.
