Anti-Bullying Awareness Day

Last Thursday, we focused on inclusivity and respect for all, irrespective of
COLOUR
CREED
RACE
GENDER
ORIENTATION.
‘Be Respectful’ is to be our 5th imperative complementing the ‘Be Caring, Be There, Be Truthful, Be Grateful’ of Blackrock.
The day started and finished with a meditation, ‘Compassionate kindness Meditation’ in period 1 and the ‘Beating the Bully Meditation’ (internally and externally) in period 6. During period 3, each class was shown a slideshow which outlines the different types of bullying including name-calling and labelling.
If you are aware of others happening our policy is to ‘Tell – Tell – Tell ‘–
(Dean/Counsellor/Teacher/Coach/House Captain)
or via the ‘Wellbeing Anonymous Tool’.
Bullying must be reported.
Thanks to Ms Markey, Mr McKimm, Ms Brunswick, Chairman Max Manion (6th Year) and the Student Wellbeing Committee on an excellent programme which was roundly praised at the Student Council meeting.
We thank my colleagues on the committee Ms Drew, Ms Crimmins, Mr McKimm and Ms Markey.
Every Student is entitled to an education free from fear and intimidation, Bullying is not tolerated at Blackrock.
