We thank all those who took part in a very tightly contested debate. We extend a special word to those three speakers who so narrowly missed out Robert Manning, Patrick O’ Rafferty and David Ryan. They made it a wonderful and highly competitive semi-final.

It is a real shame that not all of you could be accommodated for the final. We want to thank Mr Sheil, Ms Kelleher and Ms Pierce for generously giving of their time today and for their support of English debating in the College through your years in Blackrock College.

The Gold Medal Debate Final will take place at a time to be arranged.
