6th Year Gold Medal Debate
6th Year Gold Medal Debate

Congratulations to Joe MacIntyre on winning this year’s Gold Medal Debate and he will, now, be the valedictorian at both the class of 2017’s Graduation lunch on Sunday 21st May and at Prize Day the following Saturday, 27th May.
Joe opposed the motion “that this house believes there is no future for the class of 2017 in Ireland”. The standard of debating was extremely high and Mr Sheil, chairman of the adjudication panel, informed the respectful, supportive and encouraging audience of 6th Year students that “if this debate was anything to go by, we need not fear for the class of 2017”. It was a magnificent occasion as our 6th Years covered themselves in glory.
I congratulate Joe’s fellow speakers – Matthew Barry, Kevin O’Donnell, Carl Delaney, Peter Horan, John Heavey, Chris Wong and Scott Donohue – for their contribution to an excellent debate. High standards are set – You have delivered!
Finally, I thank our chair Mr. Morris and judges Mr. Sheil, Ms. Pierce and Conn McCarrick (Class of 2014)
Well done 6th Year!
