5th Year Family Mass
Chief Celebrant Fr John Laizer, CSSp. affirmed that Religion does have a place in today’s technological world. He urged the boys to avail of the Lenten season to do something good for others.
At the Mass, Joshua Gorman-Climax presented a cheque for €3,500 to Mr Rory Halpin, the Chief Executive of Spirasi. 99 Fifth Years had participated in a sponsored Fast before the February mid-term break to support the work of Spirasi, the Spiritan agency for Refugees in Ireland.
Mr Halpin in thanking the boys, told them that their generous donation will make a real difference in the lives of the Asylum Seekers dependent upon Spirasi for their survival in Ireland.
We were also delighted to welcome at the Mass Union President, Mr Greg Moore (Class of 1982) and his wife Aisling as well as the teachers and boys from St Bede’s, Manchester, who were over for our annual soccer challenge matches at Senior 1st and 2nd XI levels.
I thank Mr Morris, Fr. O’Brolchain, CSSp., Mr Myles Ryan, Ms O’Connor, Ms O’Kane, our Ministers of the Eucharist James Fox, Conor Nolan and Séafra Ó Faoláin (all 6th Year) and the Concelebrating members of the Community, parents, boys and extended family members in attendance for a wonderful liturgy.
