TERENURE COLLEGE 1 |
Congratulations to Daniel Cheung (6th year) and the senior soccer team on their 3-1 victory against a strong, physical, Terenure College team. Terenure set their stall out early and were very direct. Jay Courtney and Jack Luff (both 5th year) dealt with the directness from Terenure very well, however, it was Terenure who took the lead from an excellent volley from their number 6. We recovered well and settled back into the game. A Luke Hayes (6th year) volley levelled the game.
In the 2nd half, Patrick Collins (6th year) gave us a deserved 2-1 lead. Terenure battled back into the game and it took an incredible save from Shane Cowhey (6th year) to keep the game at 2-1. In the dying minutes a fluent counter-attack resulted in Geordy Lavin (5th year) square the ball to Daniel Cheung (6th year) to give us a 3-1 lead.
This result gives the squad a home quarter-final against the winner of Naas CBS and Enniscorthy CBS. In the meantime the squad have a home semi-final in the south metro league against Clonkeen College on Wednesday, 17th January – we wish them well!
