2022 RETREATS

The 3rd Year Retreats were facilitated in the College Chapel on Monday 3rd, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th October 2022. We are happy to offer a Class Retreat for 3rd Years, a time spent in reflection and in prayer under the direction of Mr. Gerry Keegan who is very experienced in this work. Even now in third year, the young men are becoming aware that life is full of endings as well as beginnings. Primary School has been left behind and now the final year of the Junior Cycle is moving towards June. Next year the Senior Cycle begins. It is important to make time for taking stock. We are sure the boys benefited from their day.

The 5th Year Retreats were facilitated off campus for the first time in three years on Tuesday 4th October 2022. These were the Dominican Retreat House in Tallaght, The Irish Institute of Music and Song in Balbriggan, The Spiritan Retreat Centre in Ardbraccan and The De La Salle Retreat Centre in Dublin 10. Each group was directed by retreat teams who are very experienced in working with second level students. We thank Mr O’Reilly, Ms Crimmins, Mr Sullivan, Mr Smith, Mr O’Farrell, Mr Natin, Mr Orrock, Mr Grumley Traynor and the Chaplaincy Team for their support in delivering these Retreats.

Retreats are an integral part of our Educational Programme in Blackrock. Alongside the College liturgies and other pastoral initiatives, these days offer a valuable opportunity for an education of the heart without which, we believe, any Spiritan education is incomplete.
