House 10s 2019

A fresh autumn day provided the back drop to our annual inter-house rugby tournament which was played in great spirit throughout. It is unfortunate that injuries and other commitments led to a lower than usual turnout in 6th Year but those who played did so with vigour, enthusiasm and determination with Ebenrecht (captain, David Ryan) winning the 4 Team league, with Leman (captain, Patrick O’Connor) second.

In 5th Year, a league format was also used as De Valera House failed to field a team – Leman (captain, Naoise Cautley) won with Ebenrecht (captain Sean Bruton) second.

In transition year there was a full turnout and a very high standard of play – De Valera, (captain, Zach Quirke) beat Leman (captain, Charlie O’Brien) in the final.

3rd Year was equally competitive with McQuaid, (captain, Ethan Leon Ryan) beating Leman (captain, Oliver Coffey) in the ‘A’ final while the ‘B’ competition was won by Leman (captain, Jack Dempsey Salley) who defeated Duff (captain, Rory Kelly) in the final.

I thank our Games Administrator, Deans, coaches, co-ordinators and referees for their generosity of spirit. I also thank our nurse Ms Fitzgerald who had a very busy morning but looked after every boy superbly all of whom have lived to fight another day.
