St Bede’s Trip 2018

Congratulations to Peter Quinlan and our Senior Soccer 1st team on their victory against St. Bedes College, Manchester.

In the first half we got caught by a swift counter attack by St. Bedes and trailed 1-0 at half time. In the 2nd half, we kept up a high tempo and in the 48th minute Mark O’Leary’s (6th Year) penalty put us level. Some good play down the right hand side by Ben Horkan (6th Year) created plenty of opportunities however we were unable to put them away. In the 60th minute Scott Cullinane’s (6th Year) corner was deflected into his own goal by a St. Bedes defender. In the final moments when St. Bedes threw everything at us Camilo Fernandez (6th Year) broke through and scored our 3rd goal and sealed our 3rd win in a row, completing the treble double!

Congratulations to our 2nd Senior Soccer squads on their victory against St. Bedes College, Manchester.

Our team played some excellent football from start to finish to dominate this game, Jamie Dowling (3), Nicolas Brusaca (2), Joe Tierney (1) (all 5th Year) and an own goal gave us a 7-0 victory. Captain Stephen Murphy (6th Year) drove his team on from the centre midfield. James Thomson (6th Year) caused havoc in the St. Bedes defence creating space for Jamie Dowling to finish. Robert Kelly (6th Year) was assured at the back putting a stop to any St. Bedes attacks.

The boys enjoyed a great weekend in Manchester and we thank our hosts, St Bedes for their hospitality. A highlight was a visit to Manchester City’s training facility and an opportunity to train on one of their astro pitches.
