Terenure College Model United Nations 2018

28th & 29th September 2018
The first M.U.N. of the year was held in Terenure College last weekend, 28th & 29th September. The Terenure Model United Nations conference is always a great start to the M.U.N. calendar. We had three delegations this time around, Croatia, the United Kingdom and Uruguay.
The standard of debating was, as always, very high. The scope of the topics was wide-ranging with current issues from Peacekeeping Reform to the question of South Sudan.
Two delegates, Michael Lucey and Matthew Keeley (both Transition Year), achieved Distinguished Delegate awards in recognition of the efforts they made in committee. Michael Lucey represented the Security Council for the UK and Matthew Keeley represented Croatia in the Economics and Finance committee.
The school also had Mark McGrane, Tom Dooley and Oliver Bosworth (all 5th Year) representing it as chairs in SOCHUM, Security Council and Ecology and Environment respectively.
