The Green Agenda with Dr Eddie O’Connor (Class of 1965)

Dr Eddie O’Connor (Class of 1965) was a welcome visitor on Tuesday 18th April to present prizes to eight pupils – Sascha Gibney, Oscar Mannion, Daniel Flannery, Darragh Kilbride, Matthew Buckley, Ricky Shin (all 5th Year), Finlay Mackay and Dixon Chongo (both 6th Year) – whose artwork features in his new book Supergrid – Super Solution. Their work is showcased in a display cabinet on St Patrick’s Corridor.

Eddie then spoke to Transition Year pupils and members of the Green Schools Committee about his career in the energy and sustainability industries in which, after a period as CEO of Bord na Móna, he founded and subsequently sold both Airtricity and Mainstream Renewable Power. Eddie’s message is a powerful one and challenges each and every one of us to take responsibility for the ways in which energy will be consumed into the future.
