Soccer – U17 FAI Leinster Schools Cup, Oct 2023

Moyle Park are an excellent side boasting a number of internationals and League of Ireland players so it doesn’t get much tougher a draw than away from home in the cup to such a quality side.

Sam Mooney (Captain – 5^th Year) and his squad more than stood up to the challenge. The character of the team really shone through when after going 2-0 down, a Sam Long (TY) double before half time saw us level matters. Sam Mooney, after an excellent team move, put us ahead early in the second half. Moyle Park to their credit came back to lead 4-3 before Sam Long completed his hattrick to equalise at 4-4. With five minutes to go, Moyle Park scored two quick fire goals to squeeze through to the next round.

Though extremely disappointed, this was a superb performance against a top side and it has shown the undoubted potential of the squad and we look forward to the games ahead.
