BLACKROCK COLLEGE 5 |
DRIMNAGH CASTLE CBS 2 |
Congratulations to captain Daniel Bennett (6th Year) and our Senior Soccer team on their 5-2 victory over Drimnagh Castle CBS in the 2nd round of the Leinster Senior Cup.
After a very strong start from Drimnagh Castle we started to settle into the game. Both Geordy Lavin (TY) and David MacHugh (6th Year) started to dominate midfield. Out first goal came after 28 minutes thanks to a calm Christian Buckley (6th Year) finish after an excellent pass from Cormac Sheahan (TY).
Drimnagh never dropped their heads and to an equalizer in the 40th minute. Just before half time, after some good work down the right-hand side, Eoin Maher (6th Year) delivered a dangerous ball into the box which was turned into his own goal by the Drimnagh Castle defender.
In the second half goals from David MacHugh, Callum Dunne (6th Year) and Charlie Harty (TY) gave us a 5-1 lead before Drimnagh Castle finished the game off with a consolation goal.
We thank our coaches of Peter Quinlan (class of 2019), Riley Smith (class of 2021), Max Mooney (class of 2022) and Mr O’Brien for their preparation of the team.
